This energizing area covers a theatre, cinema, stage for events and many more. It is also associated with the name Cultuurpark Westesgasfabriek means Culture Park Western Gas Factory. Originally the park was established in this quiet working class area having same name Westerpark in1891. There was a Gas factory behind this park which was built by British Imperial Continental Gas Association. Changes in the area took place when gas factory became out-dated due to the natural gas resources which were found in the North Sea. From that time the building used to remain empty or was being used as storage. It was saved from demolition as some of its part was occupied by the Youth Squatters. In 1989 the whole area was modified, trees were planted, the old red brick building was given the status of industrial monument and thus in 2003 Westergasfabriek came into being. Former it was a water-processing plant. It features an industrial style space with about one hundred feet high wooden ceiling hanging metal hooks and chains. Haarlem Gate can be seen at Haarlemmerplein near the park. It is said that the travelers coming to the town used to get refresh in the bars located here leaving their horses at Haarlem Gate. At present there are many of the cafes and restaurants available. A number of unique shops can also be found at Haarlemerstraat that leads from the Haarlemplein to the city centre. The park is thus divided into two parts – the old one and the new one that includes the former gas factory. It includes an art house cinema named Het Ketelhuis, two cafes which usually remains full of young ones. Besides this many offices of designers and fashion designers could be seen. The old park is a regular park with greenery and few bronze sculptures while the new one, that is the Westergasfabriek, is a good spot with fresh and event rating environment. It had been converted into various entertaining venues as Westergasfabriek concert hall and Ketelhuis cinema. A rectangular pool for kids is also present at the back side of it. One can enjoy the wow French brassiere food also. Trams and buses are available from various spots to reach there. One can get to the place via car also.
