Amsterdam has a gentle and damp climate but the weather varies with temperature extremes even in summer also. Summer is a good time to visit Amsterdam, as the weather is usually good. August is the warmest month with an average temperature between 21º C-12ºC. As the rain only last for a part of day so it is not going to ruin one’s trip. Summer evenings in parks or grand cafes are pleasurable one and could be an excellent experience, as it stays light out until around 10 p.m. Thus in these months days are longer and you can enjoy a massive crowd here.
Another good time to visit Amsterdam is from April to May. This season is well known as the season of Spring Tulip and Daffodil season. April month is the driest month of the year and have an average temperature of about 12°C – 4ºC. To visit Amsterdam in these days is a pleasant experience as it is not much cooler and a bit rainy weather. October and November are the rainiest months with an average temperature of about 14ºC -7ºC.
It is hard to predicate the weather in winter season in Amsterdam then also it is again a breathtaking season for tourism. Although the snowfall is rarely seen but the sight of thin layer of snow over the city is mind blowing. February is the coldest month with the temperature of 6ºC-0ºC. Average temperature in mid-winter in Amsterdam only reach about 5ºc. As the rush is not much in this season so the hotel rates are reasonable. Thus there is a possibility to save money. The days are shorter in this season but the tourist attractions remains open according to their schedule.
It could be a delightful bright day with beautiful, crisp and cold sunshine or there may be damp sprinkle. But there is nothing to afraid of winter if you are wrapped up warm carefully. In summer also, the temperature could fall suddenly so it is better to carry a jacket and a light sweater along with an umbrella. Rain is evenly spread out throughout the year and it has nearly 200 rainy days a year. The Atlantic influence also affects the temperature of Amsterdam and is responsible for the variation in temperature.
