Keukenhof garden literally means ‘Kitchen garden’ and is located between the towns of Hillegom and Lisse near Amsterdam. It was developed in 1949. The idea of developing Keukenhof garden came while working out with many of the Dutch bulb growers and experts. It was basically developed as an open – air flower exhibition to facilitate the consumers and the visitors to see and buy the flowers of desired quality. Latest hybrid variety could be seen here. Many of them are developed by the expert growers.

It is opened for the visitors from late March and the last week of May when the bulb flowers are on the full bloom. These Keukenhof gardens are at the peak of its beauty for about two months only in spring. Visitor can travel Amsterdam in this period to enjoy the scented surrounding. Although the best time to visit here is in mid April but the time may differ according to the weather. Some of these bulbs remain bloom for the whole season. There are several cafes and snack bars to satisfy your appetite while roaming and watching this flower world.

In the spring time the garden seems to be fully packed with a huge crowd of visitors. So it is quite obvious to wait in the line for gift shops and eateries. The sight of colorful flowers generates a thrill. You can buy a variety of books from the growers who are available there. As the flowers displayed here are tagged with the name and the name of the grower so the desired variety could be purchased from the grower’s tent.

Many of the visitors arrive here every year to enjoy the spring in Amsterdam with these beautiful flowers. Several restaurants are located within the park. You can even enjoy your picnic lunch at the benches present there and at other picnic spots. You can reach here easily by train, bus or with an easy drive. Tickets for this excursion could also be obtained from The Amsterdam Tourist Office also. Even many of the hotels at which you are residing also make possible the arrangements.
