Welcoming the Dutch National Soccer Team

13th July was the festivity day for Amsterdam when the Dutch soccer team after participating in the final World Soccer Championship returned home. This home welcoming celebration took place in the form of a grand orange party. First of all the prime minister greeted the Dutch team in Hague and then they had a meeting with Queen Beatrix at her Noordeinde Palace in The Hague. After this meeting, a helicopter whisked the team to Amsterdam.

Although Holland did not win the trophy yet Dutch team was honored by the city for attaining the second place in the World Soccer Championship. The victory tour had been arranged in Amsterdam on this grand occasion. In the afternoon, after reaching Amsterdam by helicopter the team was taken to a boat tour through the IJ River and the canals of Amsterdam. Thousands of fans lined the Amsterdam’s canals to cheer up the runner up team. Flags were draped in many of the houses along the canal and even giant footballs were hanging from some of the facades. The members of the Dutch Soccer team were able to greet more of the people during canal parade across the canal system in Amsterdam. To have a closer view of the soccer players many of the viewers even jumped into the water. After the boat tour the team was honored with an official open air party at the Museumplein square. Unexpectedly, a large crowd was present in Amsterdam to witness this wonderful event.
