After a month long delay at last the floating Dutchman has been started with its real trip from the Schiphol airport by welcoming aboard its first paying passenger. Now the long layover in between the flights in Amsterdam is not a dreary period rather an interesting and entertaining one if the period is of about five hours. The visitors can relish in this amphibious bus in which they can enjoy the road tour from Amsterdam Airport and then plunge into the water in the specially built ‘Splash-Zone’ in same bus and take the pleasure of the canals as boat tour. Then the bus returns to the airport through the highway. This arrangement has especially done for the passengers who have to spend a long time on airport. The bus has the capacity to carry about 48 persons. The passengers who enjoyed the trip were very excited and stunning after completion of the tour. In their words ‘it’s really one of the best ways to explore the city during the break’. The tour takes about 2 hour and 45 minutes and there is also a discount offered on online booking of the tickets.

After the hard work of years, eventually the floating Dutchman, a new attraction in Amsterdam is ready to entertain the visitors. This Floating Dutchman is actually an amphibious bus that conducts a splendid ‘splashing tour’ through the water in the canals. The tour initiates from the Schiphol Airport to the highway into Amsterdam’s city centre, from here it turns to the Amstel river near the science Centre NEMO and continue through Nieuwe Herengracht, the skinny bridge – ‘Magere Brug’, the Royal Theatre Carre, the Blauwburg and the Amsterdam City hall via the Oude Schans, Oosterdok, returns to NEMO and after exiting the canal comes back to Amsterdam Airport. In reality after getting into the water an electric engine drives the bus. The complete tour consumes about 2 hours and 45 minutes so to enjoy this tour one needs to have minimum of 4 hours of transfer time. During the ride one can’t get off, neither there is any stoppage. It has been especially planned for transferring passengers on airport of Amsterdam. It is an exciting opportunity for the visitors who have long layover at Amsterdam Airport or with a tight schedule to visit the sightseeing in “splashbus”. Many Trips are conducted daily after a short time interval.

One of the oldest buildings of Amsterdam ‘The Waag’ on Amsterdam Nieuwmarkt square, which was built in the late middle age, is facing some problems in its foundation. The structure was erected in 15th century as the Eastern entry gateway to Amsterdam and now it houses a café. The east tower of the building is leaning towards the building as the main building is submerging but the east tower of the building is not going through the same course. This dilemma is causing cracks and other damages in the tower thus it was supported by a wooden structure last week. Although there is a need to replace the entire foundation yet for now the necessary measures to save the building has been taken up as the other option might consume many years.
