Amsterdam Arena is the pride of the city

Amsterdam Arena is a stadium of its kind which not only hosts football tournaments but also many concerts. In summer at this place such well-known bands as Rolling Stones or U2 make their performances. Every year the dance event Sensation is held in the stadium.

The stadium was built from 1993 to 1996 at a cost of €140 million, and was officially opened on August 14, 1996. The stadium has a retractable roof combined with a grass surface. It has a capacity of 51,628 seats during sports matches and 68,000 places during concerts if a center-stage setup is used (the stage in the middle of the pitch); for end-stage concerts, the capacity is 50,000, and for concerts where the stage is located in the east side of the stadium, the capacity is 35,000.

The stadium is the home of the association football club AFC Ajax (1996–present) and was the home of the now-defunct American football club Amsterdam Admirals (1996–2007). So, you can enjoy the manner of play of famous football club ‘Ajax’, if only you are not so unlucky to arrive to Amsterdam during their summer or winter pause. There is also a big shop here, where one can buy various goods with the emblem of the favorite club.
